 The Chamber offers many ways for members to become involved. By acquiring as much information as possible, a businessperson can only find success. Many members begin their involvement by serving on a working committee. Here  are the current committees, councils and special programs. Call the Chamber to volunteer.

Ambassadors
Chair:

Purpose: To promote good will and serve as a public relations team for the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce.


  • Goodwill Ambassadors


  • Performs ribbon cuttings – Members and non-members may schedule a free ribbon cutting ceremony where your photo is taken and placed with your address and telephone number in the Chamber’s Newsletter.


  • Community awareness of new business

    Awards Committee
    Chair:
    Linda Daniel, Vice-Chair: Joyce Reives
    Purpose: To seek nominations and identify candidates for community leadership awards including:


  • Young Man of the Year


  • Young Woman of the Year


  • Educator of the Year


  • Community Service Award


  • Distinguished Citizen


    Business Advisory to Education Committee
    Chair:
    William Lukens, Vice-Chair: Jill Wilson
    Purpose: To lend advisory support to educators for curriculum recommendations and an understanding of the changing business environment, and preparing the workforce for tomorrow.


  • Expand and enhance School / Business Partnership Program


  • Promote involvement in the Troy Schools Character Education Program


  • The Troy Plan on Economic Education


  • Support Career Awareness program


  • Conduct Accounting for Kids Day


  • Participate in Workforce Development Program


    Human Resources Council
    Chair:
    Steven Gall Vice-Chair: Marion Stout
    Purpose: To promote the free exchange of information in the area of labor relations, as health care, benefits, planning personnel practices, NLRB, OSHA, EEOC, and other issues.


  • Conduct quarterly meetings of the Council to promote idea exchange.


  • Conduct annual seminars


  • Conduct a county-wide Annual Wage & Salary Survey


  • Conduct bi-annual Benefit Survey


  • Participate in Workforce Development Program

    Industrial Council
    Purpose: To create an opportunity for larger business and industry to familiarize Chamber members with the business strategies and market place demands impacting the current and future success of the host company.


  • Plan and conduct quarterly sessions


  • Support a business networking environment


  • Enhance understanding and support for larger business and industry.


  • Assist smaller, emerging companies with potential business opportunities.

    Legislative Committee
    Chair: William Lohrer , Vice-Chair: Joyce Reives
    Purpose: To monitor the activities of local, state, and federal legislation on the issues pertinent to the economic and social welfare of the membership and initiate, where appropriate, positions on those issues in response to needs of the membership and community at large; and to provide information forums to the membership from elected government officials.


  • Monitor legislation on local, state, and federal levels and make recommendations to the Chamber Board of Directors.

  • State of the State Legislative Update Luncheon


  • State of the Base Legislative Update Luncheon

    Membership Committee
    Chair:
    Greg Taylor, Vice-Chair: Frank Wagner
    Purpose: To actively promote the benefits of membership in the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce.


  • Coordinate a quarterly membership drive


  • Use varied survey instruments to keep in touch with emerging needs of the membership and potential members, and to conduct an annual membership survey.


  • Work to identify and develop programs for membership retention and expansion





    Miami County Chambers Small Business Council
    Chair: Lance England, Vice-Chair: J. Andrew Wannemacher,


    Purpose: To provide a forum for small businesses where challenges and opportunities can be discussed and special programs can be developed to meet their needs.


  • Provide ongoing education to meet the needs of the business community.









    Womens Leadership Connection (WLC)
    Chair: Darci Aselage Vice-Chair: Melissa Kleptz

    Purpose:  The Women’s Leadership Connection (WLC) is dedicated to empowering women in building their careers.  The committee aims to assist women in our community and the surrounding areas to reach their career goals and network with others doing the same.


  • Hold monthly WLC meetings to be held the fist Thursday of each month on timely community issues.


  • Hold the annual Professional Women’s Conference to provide relevant professional training.

    Not for Profit Council
    Chair: Sam Brown Vice-Chair: Deb Miller
    Purpose:To create a forum for nonprofit organizations to exchange ideas, information and opportunities.












    Special Programs



    Troy Development Council
    Chair: Ron Musilli, Vice-Chair: David Dippold
    Purpose: To formulate goals, develop plans, evaluate procedures and inventory resources in order to encourage and assist in the development of new business and industry and to encourage retention and expansion of existing business and industry.

    Leadership Troy
    Chair: Kay Hamilton, Vice-Chair: Mark Puthoff
    Purpose: To provide a program that will improve the quality and quantity of men and women capable of assuming leadership roles within the Troy community.

    Teen Leadership Troy
    Chair: Deb Jung, Vice-Chair: Cheryl Fox-Bender
    Purpose: To develop and enhance the leadership skills and potential of a cross-selection of Troy area high school seniors through this special program designed to include curriculum components similar to Leadership Troy.

    Project G.I.F.T. (Grants Investing in the Future of Troy)

    Purpose: To encourage philanthropy among the youth of our community.

    Troy Strawberry Festival

    Chair: Fred Daffner Vice-Chair: Becky Pappas
    Purpose: To provide an opportunity for Miami County non-profit Clubs and Organizations to generate revenues in support of their community projects. The Festival is an excellent showcase for the Troy/Miami County Community.
