| | Medical Facilities and Healthcare | | The metropolitan statistical area has a total of 14 hospital facilities (approximately 4,000 available beds) providing a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. There are over 2,000 doctors and over 500 dentists serving the region.
The strengths of the hospitals in the metro area include: burn treatment, cancer diagnosis and treatment, genetic disorders, heart disease, kidney disease, mental health, orthopedics, respiratory illness, rehabilitation, sports injuries and trauma.
In June 1998, Troy, Ohio's Upper Valley Medical Center opened the area's newest hospital facility featuring the most up-to-date acute care options available today. The Troy area has several state-of-the-art outpatient treatment facilities also operated by Upper Valley Medical Center.
