TROY, OHIO USA is a progressive city of nearly 30,000 with a reputation for its "cando"
attitude, hospitality and pride in its accomplishments. It is a charming community
with a reputation for friendliness, hospitality, and a great pride in its history.
First settled in 1808, incorporated in 1814 and named the county seat for Miami County
in 1888. Troy enjoyed a steady growth ever since. When the first citizens of Troy
founded the city on the banks of the Great Miami River, nearly 200 years ago, it turned
out they picked the ideal location. Interstate 75 which passes through Troy, goes from
the northernmost to the southernmost part of the United States.
The intersection of I-75 and I-70, 10 minutes to the south of Troy, is known as “the
Crossroads of America” and has become one of the fastest growing commercial and
industrial areas in the region. Our 90-minute market covers 50% of the U.S. population,
and over 60% of the U.S. manufacturing, Troy offers the best of both worlds… all the
benefits and security of small town America, yet only minutes away from the cultural
amenities of Ohio’s largest cities.
Troy has grown from 2,500 settlers in 1808 to a broader vibrant community that reaches
out to well over 30,000 people. In addition to the importance of agriculture to the area’s
growth, the City is at the center of the Upper Miami Valley, and is the commercial and
industrial hub of the northern Dayton metropolitan area. Troy is the home of Hobart
Corporation, which is one of the world’s foremost commercial food equipment
companies, and Hobart Brothers Co., a world leader in welding, both were founded in
Troy in the late 1800’s. Soon after, The Western Aviation Co. (WACO) was founded
and in the 1920’s Troy was home to America’s largest aircraft industry. These
companies took Troy to the world, but also brought the world to Troy.
Today, Troy is a thriving community that is proud of its past, but focused on building an
even better future. We have a solid economic base of large, medium and small
businesses, ranging from corporate headquarters to manufacturing, research and
development, to distribution.
