The Troy city school system has received Expansion magazine's highest ranking each of the last three rating periods. With a long standing reputation for excellence, the Troy city school system consists of six elementary schools, one junior high school and one senior high school. Additional educational systems include; Troy Christian Schools (K-12), St. Patricks Catholic Schools (K-8), a vocational school and a school for the developmentally disabled. There are also several private early childhood learning centers.

Japanese Language Schools
There are two Japanese language schools in the region taught by Japanese instructors which provide cultural and language opportunities. One of these schools is located in Troy.

Upper Valley JVS
The Upper Valley JVS provides vocational training for high school juniors and seniors and operates a State-designated Full Service Adult Education Center for on-going adult training. Customized training is designed to meet the needs of business and industry. Consultants are available to tailor and deliver on-going or custom training programs.


Upper Valley Joint Vocational School hosts approximately 850 high school students on its main campus and nearly 1300 students at satellite programs housed in associate school districts. Both the high school and adult division programs are focused towards building career skills. In cooperation with area business and industry, the JVS has built an outstanding core curriculum and a reputation as one of the best in the state of Ohio.

Edison State Community College offers two-year degree programs and a growing business and industry center to support the skills development needs of area business. Edison recently launched a major new research and training initiative for the plastics industry.

Hobart Institute of Welding Technology was founded in 1930 and has trained over 80,000 students from around the world. Recognized as the premiere teaching institute in the welding field, the Hobart Institute offers a variety of certification programs requiring up to nine months of classroom and laboratory work.

At the Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute (DAGSI), civilian and military engineers share labs and classrooms at the Air Force Institute of Technology, the University of Dayton and Wright State University. This non-profit combination of a federal institution, private university and a state assisted university is an unprecedented collaboration in higher education.
